What to do right now if your roof is leaking
- Catch the water: buckets and towels under the drip, and move furniture and electronics out of the way
- If water is reaching a light fixture or an outlet, switch that circuit off at the breaker if you can do it safely
- Stay off the roof. A wet or damaged roof is how people get hurt
- Take photos of the damage, inside and from the ground outside. You will want them if this becomes an insurance claim

What counts as a roofing emergency?
Water coming into the house, shingles or a section of roof blown off, a tree limb or debris through the roof, or storm damage that has left the deck open to the weather. Those can't wait.
If the roof is intact and nothing is coming in, it is usually a standard roof repair. We usually inspect those within 1–3 business days.

Temporary protection, then the real fix
When the weather won't allow a proper repair, the first job is to keep water out: a tarp or temporary cover over the damaged area. That is protection, not a repair.
Once the roof is dry we inspect it, show you photos of what failed, and give you a written price before any permanent work starts. If the roof has years left, we repair it, and qualifying repairs carry a 5-year workmanship warranty. If the damage shows the roof is at the end of its life, we will say so and show you why.
What does emergency roof repair cost?
It depends on what failed and how big the area is. Most minor permanent repairs run $300 to $900; the roof repair page lists typical ranges by type of repair. You get a written price before the permanent work starts.
Will insurance cover emergency roof repair?
Often, when a covered event like wind, hail or a fallen tree caused the damage. Your policy decides. Most policies also expect you to take reasonable steps to stop further damage, which is exactly what temporary protection is, so keep your photos and receipts.
